Capturing shadows

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 307 Fooling around with sunlight on the doors of a wardrobe. I like the way the wood grain makes the image feel slightly surreal.

Notices

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 188 The notice board at Casterton Church, near Kirkby Lonsdale. (I’ve removed the phone numbers, just in case).

Dark side

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 174 I was trying to illustrate the duality of personality here, but I don’t think it quite worked. Actually, that’s rubbish. This was accidental, but I thought that it might almost work to illustrate the duality of personality. It’s not subtle enough [...]

Homely

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 164 I think that the people who built this house did it in such a way as to make it deliberately idyllic, a bit like the way Stonehenge is oriented so that the sun rises over the heelstone on the summer solstice.

With the whole world in front of her

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 160 This didn’t come out quite the way I wanted, but I still think it’s beautiful.

More shadowplay

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 122 The gate of a churchyard in a village near Lancaster whose name I’ve forgotton (there are quite a few of these and they all have beautiful churches). Once again, it was the shadows that attracted me.

Shadow patterns

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 120 Taken in Lancaster Market Hall, where the shadows caught my eye. I converted this to sepia so as to disguise the horribly garish sign of the Everything-a-Pound shop to the right of the frame. The things on the shelf are brass [...]

Morecambe Bay is Burning

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 48 For the last couple of days we’ve had the most amazing russety-orange sunsets over our way. This was taken next to an old, ruined barn at Brow Top. I was actually wanting to photograph the barn, but I think it’d be [...]

Another day, another sunset, ho hum

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 43 Taken outside the White Cross pub on the Lancaster canal. Yes, I’m well aware that I’m doing too many sunset shots (or at least that in this case I should’ve brought the tripod and tried to do some HDR work). I’m [...]

Hurling Shadows

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 34 The doorway to a house, just next to St Paul’s Cathedral, London. I’m getting a bit sick of building photography, or at least of static shots like this – I want to try playing with long exposures in a busy place [...]
