Capturing shadows

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 307 Fooling around with sunlight on the doors of a wardrobe. I like the way the wood grain makes the image feel slightly surreal.

Smash

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 200 An outbuilding, round the back of the Lancaster Grand Theatre; another one of those hidden corners of the city that is slowly falling apart.

Brave new world

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 195 View On Black I bought a new camera today: a Nikon D300. Incidentally, I love it. Taken on the bluffs at Heysham Head with the Sigma 10-20mm.

What man built to bridge nature’s creation

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 141 The overpass that runs across Vyšehrad in Prague. Actually, it’s not technically across Vyšehrad, which is about a half kilometre to the west of the overpass, but it was the nearest placename I could find.

Who would live in a house like this?

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 132 The door to what I presume to be a basement flat in Lancaster. It gives the impression of a door that with a precipitous drop behind it.

Inside Job

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 104 Seen under a the road bridge that crosses the Lancaster canal at White Cross. I wish I could have been lower down to snap this better but the path on my side of the bank slopes up to the bridge.

Texture

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 103 This is a pile of assorted junk next to my neighbour’s garage. I have no idea what most of it is. I took this shot because I liked the contrasting textures of the grass, the rust, the blue paint and all [...]

Remember Me

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 79 In the graveyard of St Peter’s church at Heysham Head. I can’t remember the name at the foot of the cross, but I can’t help but feel sorry for him. I couldn’t seem to get the exposure quite right on this [...]

Season’s greetings, young one

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 73 Spring is one of the great times to live in the countryside. Lambs are popping up everywhere, gladdening even the flintiest of hearts. I wanted to call this picture "I has a flavour," but I decided against it. The only thing [...]

In memoriam

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 68 I’m getting behind in uploading these, I’m afraid; I’ll try to catch up this week. Taken at St Patrick’s Chapel, Heysham Head. These flowers were alone in a corner of the ruins, without a card or any sort of dedication. They [...]

Official graffiti

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 58 I happened to be passing this telegraph pole and post box and noticed the carvings, which intrigued me. I’m sure they say something useful, I’ve just no idea what. Desaturated to take the emphasis away from the post box.

Seeking Inspiration

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 30 This is a rather self-referential ironic comment. Enjoy it. It also marks the boundary of "too many autoportraits. Move on…" (Also, that’s a very good book.)

The Lonely Little Barn

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 29 This was taken during my lunch break, standing on the top of Jubilee Tower, looking down into the Trough of Bowland. It was, I might add, more than a touch windy. I love how bleak and empty the Trough looks from [...]

Portrait of the Artist With a Root Vegetable and a Magnificent Hat

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 28 No, I have no idea what this is about either. You have my apologies. On the other hand, I do love that wide-angle lens.

The End of Christmas

Graham Binns posted a photo: Three-hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day six Christmas is gone, the tree is down, the needles have been vacuumed and thrown out. All that’s left is the stand and one forlorn bauble that couldn’t quite bring itself to let go of the holiday spirit.
