I've wanted to do a shot like this for a while. Unfortunately, this one is somewhat dull, composition-wise. Still, it's a start, and I can always keep practising.

Shame about the teabag, though.

Shadow patterns

Taken in Lancaster Market Hall, where the shadows caught my eye. I converted this to sepia so as to disguise the horribly garish sign of the Everything-a-Pound shop to the right of the frame.

The things on the shelf are brass weights (or at least reproductions thereof) that would have been used by the original market traders.

The main station on the model railway of a relative. I just like the depth of field in this one; I was using completely the wrong lens.

Hurrah! Finally he uploads something (I hear you cry).

This is the water pump in my Dad's back garden. It doesn't actually work, as far as I know, but it's still nice and photogenic (when you don't accidentally crop bits off it as I did here).

Note the stone hedgehog. I think he's up to something.

The disused railway station building at Halton.

The railway itself is now the Lancaster Millenium cycleway. Sometimes, I confess, I wish it was still there.

It had to be in sepia, though, didn't it. I mean, I couldn't not have done.

About

Graham Binns is a writer, photographer, musician and software developer from Lancaster, England, with far too much hair, a penchant for odd t-shirts and a magnificent hat. He has been making things up for as long as he can remember and has been making code work for long enough to make a living from it.

He has written one novel, which is in the process of composting, and is working remembering how to write before embarking on a second. In the meantime, he photographs things, since it's easier not to have to make the world up in his head all of the time.
