I found this thing, whatever it is, anchored to a stone that my landlord had discarded when building the extension to his house.

I have no idea what it's for but I loved the patters the rust and lichen made.

The footpath that runs from Harvey Street, Oswaldtwistle, down to the Foxhill Bank Nature reserve.

I was actually just playing about with different exposure settings here, but this one came out quite nicely, if a little dark. I haven't had to do much too it.

A bent and twisted tree (I don't know what species, alas) on back road between Galgate and Caton.

This was one of those lucky spur of the moment captures, where there happened to be a convenient spot to stop the car. It took me twelve shots to get the lighting more-or-less right (it's still not perfect).

Edinburgh Castle. It stands on a rock in the middle of the city and, even in the modern age of not being afraid of people in castles, puts the wind up you just a little bit all the same. The gun fired to mark one o'clock helps, admittedly.

I only wish that the other tourists had buggered off and taken the barriers in the front of frame with them. Oh well.

Taken with a red filter to bring out the sky and an ND2 grad filter to make exposing everything that bit easier.

The Jason Queally Millenium Footbridge over the Lune at Lancaster.

Took this with the 18-55mm lens (which I later regretted as it meant that I cropped the top off the bridge) and a red filter to darken the sky.

About

Graham Binns is a writer, photographer, musician and software developer from Lancaster, England, with far too much hair, a penchant for odd t-shirts and a magnificent hat. He has been making things up for as long as he can remember and has been making code work for long enough to make a living from it.

He has written one novel, which is in the process of composting, and is working remembering how to write before embarking on a second. In the meantime, he photographs things, since it's easier not to have to make the world up in his head all of the time.
