Brain Dump

Three-hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 24

A boring one tonight. I was planning to go out to Lancaster and photograph it at night with my new 10-20mm lens (which I love and which mostly stays at 10mm) but it's windy and cold and I'm exhausted from a week with little sleep in it.

So, instead, I got all my notebooks together - the ones I'm using anyway, there are five more on my shelf, still wrapped in polythene - and took this.

On the top, with the elastic band round it, is the Dublin city Moleskine that I used when Sarah and I holidayed there. Under that is the pocket moleskine that I carry about in my bag, just in case I have a flash of inspiration. Under that is the moleskine that's got all my notes, thoughts and jottings about novel-the-second. The thin moleskine under that and to the right is one that I used for a couple of stories but haven't used since. The lovely journal with the scrollwork on it is the journal in which I'm writing novel-the-second, and was a present from Sarah. And the moleskine on the left with the Ubuntu sticker on it is the Boston City moleskine that I took with me to UDS and AllHands last year. The other two notebooks are full of random, unconnected scribblings.

This, I feel, is a pretty good representation of how it would look if you took my thoughts and dumped them in a pile.

About

Graham Binns is a writer, photographer, musician and software developer from Lancaster, England, with far too much hair, a penchant for odd t-shirts and a magnificent hat. He has been making things up for as long as he can remember and has been making code work for long enough to make a living from it.

He has written one novel, which is in the process of composting, and is working remembering how to write before embarking on a second. In the meantime, he photographs things, since it's easier not to have to make the world up in his head all of the time.
