Mucking around with off-camera flash, using the Caroline Diane as a subject.
Direct flash to camera right (Nikon SB-600) at 1/32 power. I underexposed the background by about two stops. Wish I could have softened the flash a bit to remove that glare on the boat's bow. Still, not bad for a first go.

The Caroline Diane again. I was walking past her (as far as I could tell she hadn't moved since last time) and saw the colours in the sky behind her; I had to get this shot.

The Caroline Diane, another local Morecambe boat, at rest on the fine sands towards the northern end of the promenade.
I don't think that this bit of sand ever gets flooded by the tide; I wonder if she's left so far up the beach for a reason.

This ruined old boat sits by the side of the road at Sunderland, on the Lune estuary. I assume that it's still fairly watertight, since it regularly changes position; the first time I saw it it was half buried in the mud of the estuary.

And yet it's still got anchors and mooring ropes attached. I wonder if anyone still uses it...

About

Graham Binns is a writer, photographer, musician and software developer from Lancaster, England, with far too much hair, a penchant for odd t-shirts and a magnificent hat. He has been making things up for as long as he can remember and has been making code work for long enough to make a living from it.

He has written one novel, which is in the process of composting, and is working remembering how to write before embarking on a second. In the meantime, he photographs things, since it's easier not to have to make the world up in his head all of the time.
