A pair of Rainbow Lorikeets at Edinburgh Zoo, eyeing me with interest.

They can be found in the Zoo's Rainbow Landings enclosure, where hapless victims such as I can buy a pot of food to hold out for them whilst they land on the holder's arms and head and occasionally leave a deposit behind. I was lucky: all that landed on me were the birds.

Eric, in the foreground, and his pal Ernie, mooching about in the garden.

I wouldn't have posted this normally, since it's not exactly the best of shots ever and there's absolutely nothing special about it, but the brightness of the red on their faces just caught my fancy. This has been cropped, but the colour hasn't been retouched at all.

It's a wonder that they manage to evade predators, though I guess that there aren't that many predators that would think a pheasant was worth the effort.

Graham Binns is a writer, photographer, musician and software developer from Lancaster, England, with far too much hair, a penchant for odd t-shirts and a magnificent hat. He has been making things up for as long as he can remember and has been making code work for long enough to make a living from it.
