Many monuments to man

Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 113

The view out over the bay from the moors above Caton and Littledale. In the near distance, the salt-cruet shape of Ashton Memorial. Behind that, the twinned bulk of Heysham nuclear power station and, in the far, far distance (and not visible except in the large version), its newer cousin, the Morecambe Bay offshore wind farm.

The landscape is lovely. I wish we could stop putting things all over it.

Snapped near Jubilee tower after a rainy day. Not even remotely perfect, but a nice effect all the same.

You can see the Lune estuary in the distance at the left of the photo and the twin buildings of Heysham nuclear power station on the right.

Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 93

Yes, I'm nearly ten days behind with these. I shot a bunch of them in RAW and it's taken me forever to convert them.

Taken at St Patrick's Chapel, Heysham Head. Note the brown sea. Gotta love Heysham.

Remember Me

Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 79

In the graveyard of St Peter's church at Heysham Head. I can't remember the name at the foot of the cross, but I can't help but feel sorry for him.

I couldn't seem to get the exposure quite right on this one. Also, I missed the ideal opportunity to get the sea in frame, too. Must try harder next time.

I'm getting behind in uploading these, I'm afraid; I'll try to catch up this week.

Taken at St Patrick's Chapel, Heysham Head. These flowers were alone in a corner of the ruins, without a card or any sort of dedication. They seemed poignant and bright on a grim, dark, grey day.

One of them days: unexpected happenstance, hard work, confusion and phone calls. Throw in some photography and it'll be a good one. 2008-07-24 16:58:22 (More)
