Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 158

Back on the 360-odd days wagon (a thousand huzzahs!).

This group of Batala drummers were playing at Caton Gala. They were fantastic - and only the guy with the ponytail noticed me.

I do wish I'd found a better angle to shoot from - preferably close-up with a wide lens - but you can't have everything.

A white Rhodonedron growing in the grounds of a house in Caton (luckily for your photographer, right next to the road).

The old rail bridge over the Lune at Caton. It now carries a cycle path rather than the railway.

Season's greetings, young one

Season's greetings, young one

Three hundred and sixty-odd days of 2008, day 73

Spring is one of the great times to live in the countryside. Lambs are popping up everywhere, gladdening even the flintiest of hearts.

I wanted to call this picture "I has a flavour," but I decided against it.

The only thing about this image that I don't like is that the lamb's tail is tied off near the top. The farmers do this as a means of docking the tail; the tie cuts of the blood supply and eventually the majority of the tail will drop off, having died. Personally I think it's barbaric, but maybe that's just me.

St Paul's Church belltower, Brookhouse. A bit blown towards the bottom right but still not bad considering the day's prevailing weather.
